Evolving a Visual Identity System for Growth

As Specright continued to grow and expand its offerings, the company recognized an opportunity to evolve its visual identity system to better support future growth, improve accessibility, and create greater consistency across the brand experience.

Working closely with stakeholders across the organization, I led the brand refresh initiative from discovery through implementation. The engagement included stakeholder interviews, visual audits, collaborative workshops, and ongoing partnership with internal teams to align the refreshed identity with both business goals and user needs. Throughout the project, I also served as a creative partner and mentor to the design team, providing guidance, feedback, and support as the system evolved.

The refresh focused on strengthening the core visual identity while preserving existing brand equity. Key enhancements included refinements to the primary color palette to meet accessibility standards across both light and dark backgrounds, updates to logo color applications, development of a strategic secondary color palette, and the creation of a new pattern system inspired by the concept of the "spec"—a foundational element of the Specright story.

The pattern system was developed through Theory Creative Studios, my creative practice focused on exploring how visual systems can communicate complex ideas through form, structure, and abstraction. Drawing inspiration from the "spec" itself, the resulting pattern introduced greater dimensionality, flexibility, and visual distinction while supporting Specright's forward-looking position around innovation and AI.

Additional work included refining typography pairings to improve hierarchy and readability, developing supporting brand assets and visual mockups, expanding guidance for data visualization and accessibility, and rebuilding the visual identity guidelines to support adoption across teams and channels.

The result is a more cohesive, scalable, and future-ready brand system that provides greater flexibility for marketing, product, sales, and thought leadership initiatives while reinforcing Specright's position as an innovative technology company.
